Summer is here! Are you traveling anywhere fun? Are you wondering if you can take your cloth diapers? How much work will it be, etc? Here's a break down of some tips for traveling with your diapers.
You will have access to a washer and dryer
If you are staying with friends or family, a beach house with a washer and dryer, or somewhere that has access to a washer and dryer you can take your cloth with no problems! Here's how:
- Take a large hanging wet bag to store your dirty diapers
- Use flushable liners to help you deal with the poop
- Take sample sizes of your favorite cloth diaper detergent
The water type of the vacation location may be different than what you have at home. This shouldn't be an issue unless you are staying for an extended period of time. If you are worried about residue in the washing machine from others, wash a load of towels or other laundry before washing your diapers.
You won't have access to a washing machine
If you're only going to be gone for a few days, you can take your cloth and wash when your diapers when you get home. If you are going to be gone longer than a weekend and won't be able to wash diapers, I recommend using hybrid diapers! Here's how:
- Use disposable inserts in your cloth diaper covers
- Bring a sample of your favorite cloth diaper detergent in case you need to hand wash a cover.
Traveling with cloth diapers is possible and much easier than you think! Many parents choose to hand wash diapers while on vacation in a bathtub or sink. This is another option, but then again, who wants to hand wash diapers while on vacation?
