Are you in Eugene Oregon? We've got an event for you!

Local Eugene Oregon Mompreneur needs your help for an upcoming event on October 21st!

Knickernappies and Cloth Diaper Outlet are proud to be co-hosting an upcoming event in Eugene, Oregon.  Sue, the mompreneur behind the practical and affordable CrumbCap line of products needs our help spreading the word about her October 21st event.

Sue is looking for babies age 6-24months to join her for a fun playdate, product fitting and photo shoot!  Attendees will receive swag bags and refreshments will also be provided.  Siblings are welcome to attend as well.  Read on below to find out more about this event and it's location.

Sue says:
I’ve gotten a lot feedback from other moms and a few retailers to create a Crumb Cap with some fun styles- basically to jazz it up a bit. So, I’ve developed some cute prototypes with ears, antennas, and flowers in a new style, and now I need to see how these fit, and most importantly, what other moms think. When I produced my first prototypes, my youngest was always my model, for both for fitting and photos, but now that she’s almost 5, I can’t do that anymore! So I’m reaching out to local Eugene area moms who have babies ages 6 -24 months to come out to this event and provide some honest feedback about my product, try a few caps on their babies, and have a few pictures taken!

Moms should never underestimate the value of their opinion, and this is a good chance to provide some honest input on this new product, while having fun at the same time!

About the event:
I think it will be a lot fun, and I can’t wait to meet some local moms! There will be fun toys and plenty of space for the babies, and for the moms, we’ll have refreshments, swag bags, door prizes and opportunities for some professional pictures of their babies.

Date and Location:
October 21st from 10-12noon
Lamb Cottage near Skinner Butte Park
Please RSVP to Sue at info@crumbcap.com or call 541-914-5335.
Space is limited and an RSVP ensures that we'll have enough swag bags, refreshments and room for everyone.
To learn a little more about Sue, her family and her business please read about her below!

Tell us about yourself and your family- I’m a stay at home mom to three wonderful kids, my son is 8, and my daughters are 6 and soon to be 5. My husband and I moved to Eugene from Montana two years ago, and we absolutely love the community, and all the family-friendly recreational activities that are available here.

What do you like most about being a work-at-home-mom? I love seeing my oldest two off to school everyday and being home to meet them when they get off the bus. As a stay at home mom with a small, start-up business gives me another outlet to direct my energy towards, and for me, I think this makes me a better mom.

I’m very blessed to be able to be home with my kids, especially since my youngest has Sensory Processing Disorder and recently diagnosed with Dyspraxia, which is a developmental disorder involving movement and coordination. We are always on the go with therapy appointments, and at home we spend a lot time working on different skills. I can’t imagine being able to do all of this with her if I had to work outside the home. I hope one day that my business will grow large enough so that I will be able to use my website to help raise awareness about these disorders that are not so well-known.

Tell us about your business and the inspiration behind it? When my oldest daughter was a toddler, she loved to put her gooey, sticky hands in her hair at every meal. The only way to get the food out of her hair was to bathe her, which was sometimes difficult to do, since her little sister was a newborn at the time. Then one day during an incredibly messy lunch, I spotted her winter hat nearby and put it on her head. It worked like a charm, no messy hair, and she didn't mind having it on! I searched the internet looking for hair bibs for babies and toddlers, and was astonished when I couldn't find anything. So I developed my own, finding a comfy, waterproof fabric that could be wiped off or thrown in the washer. The Crumb Cap was born, out of necessity.

Not everyone has kids that are messy eaters and smash food in their hair, but for those who do, the Crumb Cap can help save a few tears and frustration during mealtime cleanup. And with my new designs, I think children will have fun wearing them. Currently the Crumb Cap and matching bibs are only available online, through my website and a few others, but I plan to start offering them to small, baby boutique stores soon.

What has been the biggest challenge you've faced in business so far?
The biggest challenge for me was networking with other work-at-home moms who manufacture their own baby products. But after moving to Eugene, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to meet Heather with Knickernappies. She has been so generous with her support and advice as I’ve been slowly developing my product and brand. When we get together, it’s a lot of fun to talk shop, as we both use similar material for our products, and we love to keep up with each others family, as both our daughters went to preschool together and continue to be good friends. So, what could be better for two work-at-home moms, than to set up a play date and be able to talk shop? Heather has really been my mentor and inspiration, and I hope to pay-it-forward someday by helping another aspiring mom-entrepreneur!
