Flip Cloth Diapering System Review

Medium Setting for 15lb 5 month old
Product Review by Samantha

The Flip Cloth Diaper System (by the makers of bumGenius) is an economical choice for the mom who’s looking to cloth diaper without all the cost, but with just as much ease as the bumGenius One-Size diapers. The covers look and act much like the bumGenius diapers, but require no stuffing of any pockets.

The Flip has adjustable snaps for both rise & waist. I keep mine at the middle button setting for rise for my 15 pound, almost 5-month-old son. The versatile snaps allow you to use this diaper from the newborn stage all the way to potty-training.

These diapers are incredible easy to use and once paired with the liner you want and the rise is adjusted, you are ready to go! They system is so versatile that you can pair the cover with one of three different options – the standard insert, an organic insert, or disposable inserts that can be tossed for less mess. To get even more bang for your buck, I pair my cover with cheap pre-folds as well which enables me to save a few dollars when it comes to reusing the diaper and creates a fourth option for insert use. The standard insert indicates small, medium, or large to accommodate the size baby you are diapering and for any additional coverage you may want.

From talking to other moms, there are two typical ways to place your insert. The first is UNDER the folds of the Flip as shown:

The second is to simply place the insert on top of the diaper itself.

I prefer the second method (as do many other mommies of boys). This helps to prevent leakage, provides extra protection and the rougher surface of the diaper doesn’t rub against baby’s skin.

The best part of the Flip system (aside from cost and ease of use) is the amount of times you are able to reuse the cover. When ready to change baby, simply remove the insert and replace it with another. You can continue to reuse the cover! So with just a few covers and multiple inserts, you can have an entire diapering system until potty training for a low cost. If the cover gets dirty or is wet, simply clean or fully wash and hang dry. The inserts can go through both a washer and dryer.

This diapering system is as easy to use as the bumGenius at a fraction of the cost. After diapering my babies for over a year, this system came out and I snagged a few to try out. I love that I can reuse the cover over and over without feeling like it has to be washed each time. On any given day, I can reduce my laundry by simply using Flip covers and different inserts. The Flip also comes in a variety of colors which is just an added bonus for an already great product.
